If living or visiting off-campus, follow the recycling rules of the local jurisdiction. In Oxford, you can recycle all the same things as on campus. If you live in a house, call the Oxford Utility Department (513) 524-5221 to set-up your recycling/trash services. Fraternities are considered commercial accounts and must set-up their recycling and trash services as such with the Oxford Utility Department.
If you live in an apartment that does not recycle, please take your items to one of two locations in Oxford. Butler County Recycling and Solid Waste District maintains recycling locations available to the public at the Ditmer parking lot on Route 73 and behind the row of large evergreen trees in the parking lot behind TJ Maxx on Wells Mills Drive.
Reusing is environmentally preferable to recycling, so please donate usable goods instead of discarding them. In Oxford, both the Family Resouce Center and Goodwill Industries accept a wide variety of used clothing and household items. ShareFest picks up usable personal property on and off campus at the end of the academic year.
A company called Unwanted Appliances picks up refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers: call (888) 886-9268. Other items such as microwaves and toaster ovens can be recycled at Cohen Hamilton (513) 863-3474.
From mid-December to mid January, the City of Oxford offers free Christmas tree recycling to all Oxford residents. Simply place your tree curbside on a city street or call (513) 523-8412.
